Deep tech accelerator Bluepoint Partners announced on January 22 that three nuclear deep tech startups, which have received early-stage investment and close acceleration support from the firm, have been selected as "KAERI Core Companies."
The newly selected companies-RX, Qtoff, and Qbeam Solution-all attracted investment from Bluepoint Partners from their early days. This achievement is the result of a strategy that combines technology-focused investment and commercialization, connecting advanced laboratory-based technologies to the market.
The "KAERI Core Company" program is a system in which the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute selects core companies from among its 280-plus family companies, based on a comprehensive evaluation of company size, financial indicators, technological competitiveness, and level of cooperation with the institute. Selected companies receive comprehensive support from the institute, including technical assistance, personnel dispatch, access to research facilities, and global marketing.
RX is a next-generation nuclear power plant engineering solutions company with proprietary core technologies, such as a spiral steam generator design platform. Recognized for its technological competitiveness as a participant in national projects related to small modular reactors (SMRs), RX received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award in November 2024.
Qtoff is attracting attention as an alternative in the global materials market with its laser-based separation technology that transforms conventional isotope production methods. By dramatically improving production efficiency in terms of cost and speed, the company is expanding global supply negotiations and is striving to become a key materials supplier in the energy, medical, and quantum industries.
Qbeam Solution is an energy innovation company with proprietary technology for compact fusion generators. By miniaturizing and modularizing fusion technology, the company provides solutions that can be immediately applied in industrial and research settings, and it possesses differentiated competitiveness in the design and manufacturing of high-energy quantum beam generators.
Choi Suim, Head of Bluepoint's Frontier Tech Team, stated, "The simultaneous selection of the three companies we discovered at an early stage as core companies is a symbolic example of the industrial value of nuclear technology. We will continue to build an ecosystem where core technologies lead to market innovation, leveraging our expertise in technology commercialization."
