Choyongsik, Culture Director at Financial Review, has been elected as the 6th president of the Korea Association of Tourism Journalists.
The association announced on January 22 that it held the '2026 Annual General Meeting of the Korea Association of Tourism Journalists' on January 21, during which Vice President Choyongsik was appointed as the 6th president.
This presidential election was prompted by the sudden passing of former President Yang Nohung. In accordance with the association's tradition and bylaws, which stipulate that the vice president succeeds the presidency, Vice President Choyongsik was nominated as the new president.
During the general meeting, it was decided to expand the executive team to include two vice presidents and a secretary. The specific composition of the executive team and other officers was entrusted to the new president.
The term of office for President Choyongsik will be two years, ending on December 31, 2027.
In his inaugural address, President Choyongsik identified strengthening the association's external standing as his top priority. He stated, "While the association has so far focused on fostering camaraderie among members, we will now concentrate on enhancing the association's external status by expanding our membership. We will also distribute materials that provide useful information to the tourism industry and travelers, and broaden exchanges with related organizations."
Yoo Jihyun, Bureau Chief at International News, will continue to serve as secretary, and Lee Donggi, Editor-in-Chief at Transport News, has been reappointed as auditor.
