Priority Relocation to Long-Term Lease Housing After 10 Years of Residence
Bomun-dong No. 7 Records Highest Competition Ratio at 956 to 1
The Seoul Metropolitan Government's recruitment for tenants of the 'Mirinae House Linked Public Hanok' supplied for newlyweds recorded an average competition ratio of 299 to 1.
On January 23, the city announced that a total of 2,093 people applied for seven Mirinae House Linked Public Hanok units over two days, from January 15 to 16. This surpassed the previous highest average competition ratio for Mirinae House (the 6th round, 69.7 to 1), drawing significant interest from newlyweds.
The 'Mirinae House Linked Public Hanok' is a rental housing program that leases public hanok homes to households with newborns and newlyweds at about 70% of the market price. If tenants have a child while residing in the unit, they are eligible to apply for priority relocation to long-term lease housing after 10 years, ensuring residential continuity. The first tenant recruitment notice was announced on December 30 of last year.
The highest competition ratio was recorded at Bomun-dong No. 7 (41-17 Bomun-dong 6-ga), with 956 to 1. This was followed by Wonseo-dong No. 5 (38 Wonseo-dong) at 284 to 1, and Gahoe-dong No. 1 (35-2 Gahoe-dong) at 263 to 1.
The hanok homes supplied this time are located in Jongno and Seongbuk, adjacent to the central business district. They range from studio-type units to large hanok homes with four rooms and a family room, offering a variety of locations, sizes, and layouts for tenants to choose according to their preferences.
The city also held an open house event from January 7 to 14, allowing people to freely tour the seven hanok homes. A total of 3,754 people visited during this period.
On January 22, the city will announce the candidates for document screening through the Seoul Hanok Portal and the SH Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation website, and will verify the eligibility of candidates through March. The final list of successful applicants will be announced on April 2, contracts will be signed from April 13 to 15, and move-ins will take place over two months starting April 27 according to individual schedules.
Choi Jinseok, Director of Housing at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, "The overwhelming participation in the Mirinae House Public Hanok open house and tenant applications clearly demonstrates the high level of interest and demand for nature- and child-friendly hanok living." He added, "Starting with this supply, we will swiftly convert seven public hanok homes, whose projects will end in 2026, into Mirinae House units for additional supply."
