On January 21, President Lee Jaemyung urged the new floor leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea at a dinner gathering, saying, "I hope you will take the lead in addressing livelihood issues and various reform agendas."
According to the Democratic Party's floor leadership, President Lee held a dinner meeting with the party's floor leadership at the presidential office from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., lasting about two hours. The dinner took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with participants exchanging well-wishes.
President Lee emphasized, "The Republic of Korea is now at a very important watershed and turning point. It is crucial that the outcomes and achievements we make change the lives of the people." He added, "I ask our floor leadership to strive to deliver tangible results so that we can earn the trust of the people."
Han Byungdo, the Democratic Party's floor leader, stated, "The local elections are extremely important, so I will approach them with a sense of urgency." He continued, "We will unite as one team and one voice to deliver good results and earn the trust of the people, and I will do my utmost to support these efforts."
Floor Leader Han also commented on President Lee's New Year press conference held that day, saying, "It was the longest press conference in history, and I believe many people will trust you for providing clear answers to every question."
This dinner served as both an introduction and a meeting following the formation of the Democratic Party's new leadership on January 11. Attendees included Floor Leader Han, Deputy Floor Leader for Operations Chun Junho, Deputy Floor Leader for Policy Kim Hankyu, Deputy Floor Leader for Communications Jeon Yonggi, spokespersons, and other deputy floor leaders. Two days earlier, on January 19, President Lee had also held a dinner with Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheongrae and the party's leadership.
