KT to Strengthen "Responsible AI" Framework Ahead of AI Basic Act Implementation

On January 21, KT announced that it is strengthening its 'Responsible AI (RAI)' framework in preparation for the implementation of the Basic Act on the Advancement and Trust of Artificial Intelligence (AI Basic Act). The company explained that it is focusing on building a trustworthy AI environment that users can utilize with confidence through its responsible AI system.

KT has established AI ethics as a core value for AICT-centered management. To this end, in 2024, the company set up a dedicated organization called the 'Responsible AI Center (RAIC)' and, for the first time among domestic telecommunications companies, appointed a 'Chief Responsible AI Officer (CRAIO)'.

Additionally, KT has established its own AI ethics principles, known as 'ASTRI'. Through these principles, KT applies five core values-responsibility, sustainability, transparency, reliability, and inclusivity-across the entire process of AI planning, development, and operation.

Furthermore, KT publishes the 'KT Responsible AI Report' annually to disclose the results of its efforts to strengthen AI ethics. The company also operates the 'KT Responsible AI Advisory Committee', composed of external experts from various fields. For all employees, AI ethics training is a mandatory part of the education program.

From a technological perspective, KT has established its own AI safety standards tailored to the domestic environment. In the 'Responsible AI Technology Report' published in October 2025, the company presented a comprehensive risk management framework, as well as evaluation systems and implementation strategies applicable to real-world environments.

In September 2025, KT released its 'AI Guardrail', a system that blocks harmful AI model responses in real time, as open source. The company's self-developed AI model, 'Mit:um K 2.0 Base', became the first domestic AI model to obtain the Artificial Intelligence Reliability Certification 2.0 (CAT 2.0) from the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA).

KT plans to move beyond performance-driven AI to support domestic enterprises and public sector clients in safely pursuing AI transformation (AX) through trustworthy AI. Bae Soonmin, KT CRAIO (Executive Vice President), said, "We will continue to contribute to the healthy growth of the domestic AI industry and build user trust based on reliable AI technology."
