Gwangmyeong City to Launch Dedicated Walking Program for Seniors Starting in February

On January 21, the city announced that it would revamp its walking challenge using the mobile walking platform "WalkOn" and operate a separate "Senior Walking Challenge" for citizens aged 65 and older.

This revision aims to enhance participant safety and satisfaction and to promote more effective health improvement initiatives by providing customized programs that take into account the physical activity characteristics and participation conditions of each age group.

Under the revised plan, WalkOn walking challenges will be operated through separate channels based on participants' ages. Those aged 0 to 64 can join the "General Walking Challenge," while only those aged 65 and older can participate in the "Senior Walking Challenge."

The new operation method will be implemented for 10 months, from February to November.

The city advised that participation may be restricted if the age information set in the WalkOn app does not match the actual age, and encouraged users to verify their age information accurately. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Health Promotion Team of the Health and Hygiene Division at Gwangmyeong City Public Health Center.

Na Gi-hyo, Head of the Health and Hygiene Division of Gwangmyeong City, stated, "We will continue to operate various programs so that all citizens can practice healthy lifestyles according to their individual circumstances."
