"Communication Skills Reflect One's Attitude"
"What matters more than work skills is communication skills."
"In the era of digital communication, it is more important to know how to communicate without being misunderstood than simply to communicate warmly."
"The Dictionary of Effective Communicators" (subtitle: 200 Essential Phrases for Every Situation, from First Greetings to Phone Calls, Emails, and Toasts), a book that organizes key moments of workplace conversation, has been published.
This book divides professional life into four stages-first year, fifth year, tenth year, and fifteenth year-and presents 200 practical phrases tailored to each stage. It offers concrete guides that can be applied immediately in business settings, covering everything from first greetings and phone responses to emails, reports, refusals, and toasts.
The author, Jang Eunhee, has compiled communication know-how gained over 12 years of experience in public institution media relations. Having worked as an EBS broadcast writer and speechwriter before moving into PR, she has experienced both situations that became complicated due to words and those resolved by a single phrase. She emphasizes, "Communication skills are not an innate talent, but a record of one's attitude."
The book is structured in stages: Chapter 1 covers first impressions for newcomers, Chapter 2 focuses on practical communication, Chapter 3 addresses collaboration, and Chapter 4 explores leadership communication. Each chapter includes incorrect and correct examples, checklists, and more to enhance practicality. As an appendix, it includes 10 sets of situational communication cards and 30 sets of hidden cards for public institutions and private companies.
The author stated, "People may not remember the exact words you said, but they will remember your attitude when you said them," adding, "I hope this book serves as a go-to communication guide whenever you need it."
