Gijang County (County Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on January 21 that it will provide longevity celebration gifts to residents aged 100 or older to honor their dedication to the development of the local community and to celebrate their longevity.
In response to the era of population aging and to support a healthy and dignified later life for seniors, the county has enacted the "Ordinance on the Provision of Longevity Celebration Gifts in Gijang County" and has been implementing the longevity celebration gift support program since January 1, 2025.
Eligible recipients are seniors who are 100 years of age or older, as of their birthday, and who have been registered residents of the county for at least one year. Applications must be made by the seniors themselves in principle; however, if this is difficult, a proxy may apply on their behalf with the required documents.
The longevity celebration gift is valued at 500,000 won, and recipients may choose one item from among eight options according to their preference: vacuum cleaner, dehumidifier, air purifier, bedding set, pressure rice cooker, dishwasher, food waste disposer, or robot vacuum cleaner.
For more details, residents can contact the administrative welfare center of their town or township, or the Senior Welfare Team of the Senior and Disabled Welfare Division at Gijang County Office.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, "I deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of our seniors," and added, "We will continue to develop various policies so that seniors can enjoy a happy and healthy later life."
