Police Investigate Compliance with Safety Protocols
A worker in his 60s died after being crushed by machinery while working at a company located in Gwangju Technopark.
According to fire authorities and other sources on January 21, at approximately 10:54 a.m. that day, an accident occurred at the Medi Healthcare Center in Gwangju Technopark, Buk-gu, Gwangju, in which a man in his 60s, referred to as Mr. A, was crushed by machinery.
Upon receiving the report, fire authorities responded to the scene and rescued Mr. A, who was in cardiac arrest, transporting him urgently to a nearby hospital. However, he was ultimately pronounced dead.
Investigations revealed that Mr. A, an employee at a manufacturing company producing dental instruments, was moving machinery with three colleagues when the accident occurred. Police believe that the machinery being moved lost its balance and toppled over, crushing Mr. A.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by questioning eyewitnesses and company officials, and are also checking whether proper safety protocols were followed during the work process.
