POSCO Museum Gwangyang Marks First Anniversary with Art Experience and Special Lecture Programs

Expanding the Foundation of Local Culture and Arts

POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks will launch an art experience program for employees and local citizens starting January 24, ahead of the first anniversary of the POSCO Museum Gwangyang.

The program is largely divided into two categories: "Yomojomo Art Experience" and "Alssulmizap (A Miscellaneous Art Encyclopedia Worth Knowing)."

First, the "Yomojomo Art Experience" is an art program designed for employees and their families. It features a family frame-making session using rubbing and frottage techniques based on "POSART" (high-resolution colored steel plates made with POSCO steel products).

The "Yomojomo Art Experience" will be held three times-on January 24, February 7, and February 28-targeting employees with children in fourth grade or above.

The "Alssulmizap" program is open to all local citizens and aims to deepen their appreciation of high-quality culture and the arts by inviting art experts to deliver special lectures.

"Alssulmizap" will take place three times-on January 30, February 27, and March 27-at Park1538 Gwangyang and the POSCO Talent Creation Center Gwangyang, each session covering a different topic to broaden participants' cultural knowledge.

The first lecture will be delivered by Professor Yoon Jinyoung of Dongduk Women's University on the theme "Landscapes of Joseon Captured by the Brush." Professor Yoon is a renowned scholar of Minhwa (Korean folk painting), recognized for her contributions as president of the Korean Minhwa Association and as a cultural heritage specialist for Seoul, greatly expanding the field of Korean folk art studies.

The second lecture will feature Jung Taehee, Head of the Auction Business Team at Seoul Auction, who will share various insights and hidden stories about art and auctions. The third lecture will be given by Lee Jiho, Director of the Jeonnam Museum of Art, who will provide accessible information to help citizens better understand art museums.

Any citizen can apply for the "Alssulmizap" program through the Park1538 Gwangyang website, and registration will be limited to the first 250 applicants.

A representative from Gwangyang Steelworks stated, "Ahead of the first anniversary of POSCO Museum Gwangyang, we have planned a variety of art experience programs for employees and citizens," adding, "We will continue to provide opportunities for the public to explore the world of art in an easy and enjoyable way."

Meanwhile, POSCO Museum Gwangyang, which opened last April with the completion of Park1538 Gwangyang, was established as a cultural complex space for local residents to enjoy high-quality art. It has attracted significant popularity from citizens by hosting a series of inaugural and special exhibitions as well as various art events.
