The Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation and the Dalseo Cultural Foundation have joined forces to strengthen cooperation in the field of cultural tourism. Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province and Dalseo District in Daegu are now actively working to expand cultural tourism exchanges beyond administrative boundaries.
On January 20, the Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation and the Dalseo Cultural Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding to expand mutual cooperation at the Inbin Hall of the Daegaya Historical Theme Tourism Site in Goryeong County. Officials from both organizations attended the signing ceremony and agreed on measures to invigorate the cultural tourism industry and promote joint development.
Under this agreement, the two organizations will expand cooperation in various areas, including cultural content exchange, support for activities in the cultural tourism sector, joint promotion of major festivals and cultural tourism events, a collaborative response to global cultural tourism trends in the era of artificial intelligence, and the development of new content to address the risk of regional extinction. They also plan to implement practical exchange projects such as operating joint training programs.
Both organizations expect this collaboration to enhance the competitiveness of local cultural resources and broaden opportunities for residents to enjoy cultural experiences. In particular, the initiative is seen as highly significant because it aims to develop a sustainable regional revitalization model through cultural tourism in response to shared challenges such as the concentration of population in the capital area and demographic decline.
The Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation, established on October 27 last year, is focusing on developing new cultural tourism content based on Goryeong's historical and cultural assets, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Jisan-dong Tumuli. The foundation will host the 'Daegaya Festival' from March 27 to 29, aiming to elevate it as the region's leading cultural tourism festival.
