Access with Kakao, Naver, Google, and Apple Accounts
Targeting the New "Multi-Messenger" Trend
On January 21, Nate Communications announced that it is significantly expanding user accessibility by introducing a social login feature to its messenger service, NateOn.
The core of this update is "unlocking the messenger." Since the update that began on January 14, NateOn now allows users to access the service instantly using their existing social accounts, without the need to create a separate Nate ID. The supported social login platforms are Kakao, Naver, Google, and Apple, for a total of four options.
When using social login, users can access NateOn immediately after a minimal verification process using the phone number or email information registered to their account. This provides a seamless user experience, allowing continuous connection with the same social account on both PC and mobile devices.
This change in NateOn directly targets the recent "multi-messenger" trend in the messenger market. Unlike in the past, when all communication was handled through a single messenger, more users are now distinguishing between multiple messengers based on purpose, relationship, and situation.
In particular, there is a clear trend toward "separating work and private life," where personal, everyday conversations are handled via mobile-centric personal messengers, while official communication-such as work collaboration or large file transfers-takes place on separate messengers optimized for PC environments. With the introduction of social login, NateOn aims to actively embrace external users and solidify its position as the most efficient "secondary messenger for work."
NateOn offers essential features for work environments, including large file transfer and management, message recall, "team rooms" specialized for group communication, and remote control. This new open login policy is expected to accelerate the influx of users to NateOn, leveraging these strengths.
Son Hyungseon, Head of NateOn, stated, "We plan to build a messenger environment where more users can access the service with confidence by strengthening the balance between security and convenience."
Meanwhile, the NateOn social login feature is available immediately in the latest versions of both the PC and mobile apps, and users can manage their linked accounts at any time through the settings menu.
