14 Days of On-Site Visits Covering Welfare, Economy, and Safety
Seongbuk District in Seoul (Mayor Seungro Lee) will visit 52 key sites related to welfare, the economy, safety, and redevelopment over a 14-day period from January 22 to February 13.
To mark the new year, the district is launching an "On-Site Visits to Key Livelihood Locations" initiative to inspect overall district operations in person and directly listen to residents’ opinions so they can be reflected in policies and administration. The focus is on practical, on-site, resident-centered communication.
The visits will cover a total of 52 locations, including 15 welfare facilities such as comprehensive social welfare centers and facilities for seniors and people with disabilities; 7 local economic sites such as traditional markets and neighborhood shopping districts; 18 public facilities related to youth, childcare, environment, and safety; and 12 sites related to pledges and redevelopment projects.
At each site, the district will conduct operational inspections, hold resident meetings, and engage in on-site activities. At welfare facilities, they will check the status of services for seniors and vulnerable groups. At traditional markets, they will monitor holiday price trends and inspect electrical and fire safety, as well as review measures to improve shopping convenience and revitalize the local economy.
At public facilities and project sites, the focus will be on identifying user inconveniences and safety issues, while also directly checking the progress of pledged projects and redevelopment sites. In redevelopment areas, inspections of safety management for aging and hazardous buildings will also be conducted.
The district plans to share the results of actions taken on residents’ suggestions received during these visits and to ensure systematic follow-up management.
A district official stated, "Livelihood sites are where we can observe both the achievements and limitations of administration," adding, "We will faithfully incorporate the voices of residents heard on-site into district operations so that people can feel real changes in their daily lives."
Meanwhile, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, Seongbuk District also plans to conduct inspections of welfare networks for the underprivileged in conjunction with some of the scheduled site visits.
