Gwanak District Opens Miseong-dong Complex Building

Over 18.1 Billion Won Invested
New Break Room for Environmental Workers Established

Gwanak District in Seoul (Mayor Park Junhee) announced on January 21 that it held the opening ceremony for the new Miseong-dong Complex Building on January 20 and has officially begun operations.

The previous Miseong-dong Community Service Center building (249 Nangok-ro, Gwanak District) had become outdated and cramped after 30 years since its completion, causing inconvenience in handling civil affairs and running various community programs. In August 2023, the district began construction of the new building at 1565-6 Sillim-dong and two adjacent lots, with a total project cost of over 18.1 billion won. After nearly two years of construction, the new Miseong-dong Complex Building was completed in November of last year.

The newly built Miseong-dong Complex Building has a total floor area of 2,138.51 square meters, spanning from one basement level to four above-ground floors. The new building brings together administrative, cultural, and welfare functions in one place, transforming it into a central hub for daily life in Miseong-dong with a focus on enhancing resident convenience.

Each floor of the building includes a parking lot (basement level 1), a civil service office, counseling room, and a break room for environmental workers (1st floor), the Scent of Books Small Library, nursing room, and Dongdae headquarters (2nd floor), the Residents' Autonomy Council office and program room (3rd floor), and a multipurpose auditorium and staff lounge (4th floor).

The new Miseong-dong Complex Building has newly established a break room for environmental workers to ensure a safe and comfortable work environment. This is the fourth break room for environmental workers to be installed in a community service center within the district.

Approximately 100 people attended the event, including Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak District, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and local residents. Mayor Park presented commendations to those who contributed to the construction.

Mayor Park stated, "With the start of the new year, the opening of the new Miseong-dong Complex Building marks a new starting point on the journey toward the happiness of Miseong-dong residents," and added, "I hope the Miseong-dong Complex Building will become a focal point for community activities and establish itself as a village hub where culture and learning thrive."
