Easing the Initial Burden for Returning Farmers
Practical Support for Stable Farming and Housing Conditions Expected
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on January 21 that it will implement the 'Support Project for Returning Farmers' Agricultural Startups and Home Purchases' in the first half of 2026.
This project has been established to help returning farmers settle stably in agriculture and rural communities.
The support scale is up to 300 million won for agricultural startup funds and up to 75 million won for home purchase funds.
Eligible applicants are returning farmers who have lived outside rural areas for more than one year and have moved to Sancheong County within the past six years, and are either currently engaged in agriculture or plan to be, between the ages of 18 and 65.
Non-farming residents currently living in rural areas and those planning to move to Sancheong County as returning farmers this year are also eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit for home purchase and new construction funds.
Final recipients will be selected through a two-stage process: an initial document review, followed by an in-depth interview, and then a comprehensive review by the selection committee.
The review will comprehensively evaluate the feasibility and viability of the business plan, readiness for farming, and the applicant's intention to settle in a rural area. The amount of support will be determined based on the applicant's credit rating and collateral evaluation by financial institutions.
Applications, along with the required documents, must be submitted to the Rural Development Division of the Sancheong County Agricultural Technology Center by February 3.
For more details, please refer to the Sancheong County website or contact the Rural Development Division.
Lee Seunghwa, Governor of Sancheong County, stated, "We hope this project will help ease the initial burden for returning farmers and provide practical support for stable farming and housing conditions."
