Namyangju to Support Installation of Flood Prevention Facilities in Disaster-Prone Housing

On January 20, the city of Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will implement the "2026 Support Project for Installation of Flood Prevention Facilities in Disaster-Prone Housing" to protect citizens' lives and property from summer heavy rains, typhoons, and other natural disasters.

This project will provide partial financial support for the installation of flood prevention facilities (manual flood barriers) at entrances and exits of underground parking lots in apartment complexes that have experienced flooding in the past or are at risk of flooding.

The city plans to allocate a total budget of 10 million won and complete the installations by June.

Eligible recipients are apartment complexes within the city that have obtained business plan approval under the Housing Act. Priority will be given to complexes that have experienced flooding in the past, small-scale apartment complexes not subject to mandatory management, and those located adjacent to rivers or in low-lying areas with high flood risk.

Applications can be submitted directly by the residents' representative council or a designated representative. The city will provide up to 80% of the installation cost, with a maximum of 5 million won per apartment complex.

The application period runs until February 6. Interested complexes should prepare the required documents and submit their applications in person to the Apartment Management Team of the Building Management Division at City Hall.

An Jin-ho, head of the Building Management Division, stated, "With the recent increase in localized heavy rainfall due to climate change, it has become increasingly important to prepare in advance for flooding in apartment complexes. Through this project, we aim to prevent flood damage in disaster-prone apartment complexes and will continue to promote various disaster prevention initiatives so that citizens can live in a safer residential environment."
