Yangpyeong County Holds "Communication Festival with Yongmun Residents"

Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (Governor Yang Jinseon) held a communication session with the residents of Yongmun-myeon, the hub city of the eastern region of Yangpyeong and currently preparing for promotion to Yongmun-eup, on the 20th as the eleventh schedule of the "2026 Communication Festival with County Residents."

The event was held at 9:30 a.m. in the main auditorium on the third floor of the Yongmun-myeon Multi-purpose Government Complex. More than 100 people attended, including Yang Jinseon, Governor of Yangpyeong County; Hong Myeonggi, Head of Yongmun-myeon; provincial and county council members; heads of local organizations and institutions; and residents of Yongmun-myeon, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere.
The event consisted of three parts: (1) an awards ceremony, (2) an explanation of county and township administration, and (3) listening to residents' suggestions. Major achievements of Yongmun-myeon in the past year were highlighted, such as the preliminary feasibility study approval for the Yongmun-Hongcheon metropolitan railway, the opening of the Yongmun Health Living Support Center, the separation of pedestrian and vehicle roads and expansion of the access road to Yongmunsan, and the successful hosting of the Yongmunsan Wild Vegetable Festival. These achievements were shared with the residents to build consensus and engagement.
Looking ahead to the promotion of Yongmun-eup in 2026, key policy directions were presented, focusing on the expansion of transportation infrastructure and the development of tourist destinations in the eastern region. These included the construction of a new conventional railway between Gwangju (Gyeonggi) and Yongmun, efforts to have KTX trains stop at Yongmun Station and close the comprehensive training center, and the commissioning of a study to revitalize the Yongmunsan tourist area.
During the final session, an open dialogue with county residents, a variety of suggestions closely related to daily life were raised. These included the construction of new roads and bridges and installation of sidewalks, installation of guardrails and outdoor exercise equipment, connection of city gas and water and sewage systems to Yeonsu-ri, expansion of the pedestrian path along Heukcheon-gil, and the early construction of the parking lot at Damun Neighborhood Park. The heads of relevant departments and divisions responded directly on site, ensuring in-depth communication with the residents.

Yang Jinseon, Governor of Yangpyeong County, said, "It was very meaningful to hold the Communication Festival in Yongmun-myeon, the second most populous area in Yangpyeong, and to hear the voices of the residents directly on site. I will actively reflect each and every valuable opinion of the residents in county administration, and work together with the community to ensure that Yongmun-myeon, as it prepares for promotion to eup status, develops into an even better place to live."
