Uiseong County will officially launch its 2026 Senior Employment Program starting in February to support healthy aging and stable income activities for local seniors.

According to Uiseong County (Governor Kim Jusu), a total budget of 11.2 billion won will be allocated this year. The Uiseong Senior Club and the Uiseong County Chapter of the Korean Senior Citizens Association will operate a total of 31 projects, with 2,706 seniors participating.

The program consists of 13 public interest activities for seniors, 9 projects utilizing senior capabilities, and 9 community project groups. Uiseong County plans to expand the foundation for social participation, focusing on areas with strong demand in local communities.

This year, the county will especially strengthen on-site safety management. Uiseong County will newly establish a "Senior Work Support Team" to ensure that participating seniors can work in a safer environment.

The support team will be comprised of 10 members in total and will be responsible for basic safety checks, verifying work environments at project sites, and supporting accident prevention activities, thereby enhancing both the safety and efficiency of on-site operations.

The county will also expand the senior center lunch program in connection with the Senior Employment Program. Recognizing that senior centers serve as key spaces for leisure and communication among the elderly, Uiseong County will increase the number of facilities providing lunch from 25 last year to 46 this year, supporting regular meal provision and nutritional management. Through this, the county aims to alleviate feelings of isolation and promote healthy community living.

Prior to the implementation of the program, the Uiseong Senior Club (Director Kim Sungjin) and the Uiseong County Chapter of the Korean Senior Citizens Association (Chairman Shin Wonho), as the operating agencies, conducted a total of nine hours of remote workbook-based pre-safety training for participants in January. In addition, to prevent accidents during the cold season, the program schedule will be flexibly adjusted for each project.

Kim Jusu, Governor of Uiseong County, stated, "Senior employment is not just about income support; it helps seniors participate in society in a healthy way and creates essential services for the local community. In 2026, we will continue to provide comprehensive support so that the capabilities of each and every senior can become the strength of the region."

Uiseong County is being recognized for advancing its welfare model by not only expanding the quantity of senior jobs but also by introducing dedicated safety management personnel and expanding the senior center lunch program, thereby raising the standard for a community-based welfare model that connects employment, care, and community.
