Trump to Discuss Greenland with Relevant Parties at Davos

"Phone Call with NATO Secretary General... Irreversible"
Macron's Text Message Revealed... "I Do Not Understand Greenland"

Donald Trump, President of the United States, who is currently attending the World Economic Forum (WEF, also known as the Davos Forum) in Davos, Switzerland, stated that the issue of Greenland cannot be reversed and announced his plans to meet with various relevant parties in Davos. Emmanuel Macron, President of France, who is leading a hardline response to the Greenland conflict in Europe, sought dialogue by inviting President Trump to the Group of Seven (G7) meeting and dinner.

On January 20 (local time), President Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social, "I had a very productive phone call with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding Greenland," and made these remarks.

President Trump added, "I have also agreed to hold a meeting in Davos, Switzerland, where multiple parties will gather. As I have made clear to everyone, Greenland is essential to national security and global security. This cannot be reversed."

President Trump also asserted, "The United States is the most powerful country on Earth. This is thanks to the rebuilding of our military during my first term, and this rebuilding is progressing at an even faster pace."

He further stated, "We are the only major power capable of guaranteeing peace around the world, and quite simply, this is only possible through strength."

According to Bloomberg News, President Trump told reporters the previous night, "We must have Greenland," and regarding opposition from European countries, he said, "I don't think they will strongly object."

President Trump also released an image on Truth Social, claiming it was a text message from President Macron.

President Macron referred to President Trump as a "friend," noted that the two countries' positions align on the Syria issue, and mentioned the possibility of cooperation on the Iran issue. He continued, "I do not understand what you are doing regarding Greenland," and suggested, "Let's achieve great things together."

President Macron proposed, "We can hold a G7 meeting in Paris after the Davos Forum on the afternoon of the 22nd," adding, "We can separately invite Ukraine, Denmark, Syria, and Russia." He also suggested, "Let's have dinner together in Paris on the 22nd before you return to the United States."

As President Trump pushes for the annexation of Greenland, he is pressuring the eight countries, including France, that have deployed troops to Greenland in opposition, by threatening to impose tariffs. In response, President Macron has led a hardline approach, proposing the activation of the trade threat response measure (ACI), known as the "trade bazooka," in relation to the Greenland conflict.

It is not known how President Trump responded to this text message.

According to Bloomberg News and others, the previous day President Trump told reporters that, in response to President Macron's refusal to participate in the Gaza Peace Committee, "We will impose a 200% tariff on French wine and champagne," adding, "And he will participate (in the peace committee)."
