On January 19, Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province signed a business agreement with Mokpo City Medical Center to promote the Ministry of Health and Welfare's pilot project for the long-term care home medical center.

According to the city, the purpose of this agreement is to establish a cooperative system to provide integrated medical services and long-term care within the local community, focusing on elderly people who receive long-term care benefits at home and have difficulty moving or visiting medical institutions.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will cooperate in identifying and connecting eligible home medical care recipients, providing home visits and health management services by doctors and nurses, and strengthening the linkage between long-term care and support services.

The pilot project for the long-term care home medical center is a program in which doctors, nurses, and social workers form a team to provide home visits, home nursing, and community-based care services in a coordinated manner. The key goal is to enable elderly long-term care recipients to receive both medical and care services at their current place of residence, rather than entering a facility.

The city expects that this project will improve medical accessibility for long-term care recipients, reduce gaps in medical services, enhance the quality of life for the elderly, and ease the care burden on their families.

Jo Seokhun, Acting Mayor, stated, "This agreement marks the starting point for establishing a home medical care model in which medical and care services are organically connected within the community," adding, "We will strengthen cooperation with related organizations so that citizens can continue to live safe and healthy lives in their familiar living environments."

Meanwhile, the city plans to gradually expand long-term care home medical services starting with this pilot project and accelerate the establishment of a community-based integrated care system.
