Securing a Special Grant Tax of 370 Million Won
Muan County in South Jeolla Province has been selected as an outstanding local government in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 2025 evaluation for the issuance of local gift certificates, the execution of livelihood recovery consumption coupons, and the management of local price stability. As a result, the county secured a special grant tax of 370 million won.
According to the county, this evaluation comprehensively reflected the issuance performance before and after national funding support, execution results, and efforts to stabilize prices among 192 local governments nationwide that issued local gift certificates.
Since the beginning of this year, the county has issued Muan Love Gift Certificates quickly and stably, resulting in a total issuance of 76.5 billion won, an increase of about 21.5 billion won compared to the previous year. Even before receiving national funding, the county expanded the issuance scale using its own resources to promote local consumption.
Since July of last year, the county has continuously requested national funding support from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a special support fund of 1.5 billion won. With this, the discount rate for the gift certificates was raised to 17%, higher than before, and eight local Hanaro Mart stores were newly designated as places where the certificates can be used, thereby improving user convenience.
Based on these achievements, the county received a special grant tax of 250 million won in the field of local gift certificate issuance. In the area of livelihood recovery consumption coupon execution, the county was also recognized as an outstanding local government for its performance in distribution, expansion of usage locations, and efforts to improve application and payment procedures, securing an additional special grant tax of 100 million won.
Furthermore, in the local price stability management evaluation, the county has been selected as an outstanding local government for four consecutive years since 2022, securing 20 million won and continuing to achieve policies that stabilize local commercial districts and are highly regarded by residents.
Kim San, Governor of Muan County, stated, "I believe our focus on operating the local gift certificate and consumption coupon systems so that they lead to actual consumption was reflected in the evaluation," adding, "We will continue to promote local economic revitalization policies with the aim of boosting domestic demand and increasing sales for small businesses."
