Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province is publicly recruiting youth organizations to participate in the '2026 Youth Village Creation Project,' which is overseen by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, until February 10.

According to the county, the Youth Village Creation Project is a youth-led policy initiative in which young people stay in the region for a certain period, carry out activities they have planned themselves, and build relationships with the local community while exploring the possibility of settling down. Through this open call, the county aims to discover youth organizations that can revitalize the region.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will select 10 regions nationwide through a document review, on-site inspections, and presentation evaluations. Selected youth organizations will receive up to 600 million won in project funding over three years, with up to 200 million won provided annually.

Youth organizations wishing to participate should refer to the announcement section on the county website, complete the application documents, and submit them in person to the Youth Support Team of the Population and Youth Division or via email. Selected organizations will be finalized in April after a review process in March.

The county has been verifying youth-led regional revitalization models through the Youth Village Creation Project since 2023. In the first year, youth organizations such as 'Culture Creative Studio' and 'T570: An Attractive Terminal Where Young Artists Stay' focused on creating jobs linked to local resources and conducting cultural experiments.

Until last year, the youth organization 'Soopsoop Yeongam' continued community activities by organizing environmental forums, ecological tours, and environmental film festivals under the theme of ecological and environmental protection. Based on these achievements, the county and participating youth organizations received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety.

Currently, the county is continuously operating residency programs focused on youth lifestyle, technology, and relationship-building, in connection with the Jeonnam-style Youth Village Project. Starting January 17, a total of seven programs will be held through March at the 'Yeongam Youth Life Cut' space, including a youth village residence, a one-night, two-day woodworking theory and practice course, and a home repair class.

In addition, cooking classes utilizing local specialties and a supporters program will also be conducted sequentially.

Kim Sunmi, head of the Population and Youth Division, stated, "The Youth Village Creation Project is a process-oriented initiative in which young people live in the region and carry out projects they have planned themselves. We look forward to the active participation of youth organizations eager to experiment with their own ideas based on local resources."
