Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province is launching the "2026 Hydrogen Electric Vehicle (Passenger Car) Distribution Project" to expand the adoption of eco-friendly vehicles, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve air quality.
Through this project, the city plans to allocate a total budget of 617.5 million won to distribute 19 hydrogen electric passenger vehicles. Of these, one will be prioritized for special allocation, while the remaining 18 will be available to the general public. Applications for the project will be accepted from January 26 to December 11, 2026, and may close early if the budget is exhausted.
The eligible vehicle for support is Hyundai Motor Company's hydrogen electric car "Nexo," with a subsidy of 32.5 million won per vehicle. This includes 22.5 million won from the national government and 10 million won from the city government.
Applicants wishing to purchase a hydrogen electric vehicle must sign a purchase contract and then submit an application for purchase support. After confirming eligibility for the subsidy and completing the selection process, the subsidy will be provided following vehicle delivery and registration.
Yangju City has steadily promoted the distribution of hydrogen electric vehicles, supplying a total of 90 units from 2020 to 2025.
A Yangju City official stated, "We expect that expanding the adoption of hydrogen electric vehicles will help reduce fine dust and establish an eco-friendly transportation system," adding, "We hope for active interest and participation from citizens in this project to improve air quality."
