Actor Lee Wonjong Nominated for '200 Million Won Salary' Agency Chief? Joo Jinwoo Criticizes: "Has He Done Anything Besides Following President Lee?" On April 1, 2024, ahead of the 22nd general election, President Lee Jae-myung, who was a candidate for Incheon Gyeyang-eul, expressed his gratitude to actor Lee Won-jong, who gave a support speech at his election campaign site. The nomination of actor Lee Wonjong for the position of President of the Korea Creative Content Agency, which comes with an annual salary of up to 200 million won, has drawn criticism from the opposition party, calling it "an excessive act of rewarding loyalty."

Joo Jinwoo, a member of the People Power Party, stated on his Facebook page on January 18, "Does it make sense to appoint Lee Wonjong, a well-known pro-Lee Jae-myung actor, as President of the Korea Creative Content Agency?" He further questioned, "What expertise does he have?"

He continued, "The Korea Creative Content Agency is a very important public institution that manages 600 billion won of taxpayer money every year," adding, "Aside from acting, has Lee Wonjong done anything other than follow President Lee Jae-myung around and deliver support speeches?" He emphasized, "If we start handing out positions just because someone gave a support speech, the country will be ruined."

Lee Wonjong has consistently participated in campaign rallies supporting President Lee Jae-myung since Lee's tenure as mayor of Seongnam. At last year's presidential campaign site, he remarked, "Martial law has ended, but the rebellion is not over yet," and added, "I am now blue to the core. Even my bones are Lee Jae-myung."

It is reported that Lee Wonjong is being seriously considered within the ruling party as a candidate for the currently vacant position of President of the Korea Creative Content Agency. The Korea Creative Content Agency, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, operates with an annual budget of over 600 billion won, supporting the growth of the content industry as well as content production in broadcasting, gaming, music, fashion, animation, character, and comics. The term of office for the president is three years, and the annual salary, including bonuses, is said to exceed 200 million won. To date, no one with an acting background has ever held the position.
