Samsung Securities announced on January 20 that, according to the Financial Supervisory Service's disclosure for the fourth quarter of last year, it ranked first in returns (21.02%) among all operators with more than 3 trillion won in DC principal non-guaranteed reserves in the DC principal non-guaranteed (1-year) category of retirement pensions.
In the IRP principal non-guaranteed (1-year) category of retirement pensions, it also ranked first (18.68%) among securities firms with more than 3 trillion won in IRP principal non-guaranteed reserves.
Among retirement pension investment assets, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have gained popularity among investors, resulting in a high balance growth rate. As of the end of last year, ETF balances in DC and IRP accounts increased by 118% compared to the end of 2024, growing from 3.4 trillion won to 7.3 trillion won.
Samsung Securities is offering the "Retirement Pension ETF Accumulation" service to meet this growing demand for ETF investments.
The "Retirement Pension ETF Accumulation" service by Samsung Securities allows users to select their desired stocks and schedule regular automatic purchases. It enables consistent purchases of a specified amount and quantity of stocks on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis in defined contribution (DC) and individual retirement pension (IRP) accounts.
Pension investors are expected to be able to establish more effective investment strategies for retirement asset management by utilizing domestic ETFs and REITs.
To support rational investment decisions, Samsung Securities also provides customized ranking information for pension clients within the "Retirement Pension ETF Accumulation" service. Clients can check rankings for popular ETFs in retirement pension accounts and ETFs that are attracting the most attention from Samsung Securities customers. In addition to information on returns, purchase volume, and age groups, investors can also refer to various rankings, such as the ETFs most held by the top 10% of pension asset holders in their pension accounts and the highest dividend-paying ETFs, to help build their own investment portfolios.
The growth of Samsung Securities' pension business is attributed to subscriber-focused pension services. Notably, in 2021, it changed the landscape of retirement pension fee structures by introducing "Direct IRP," the first retirement pension product with zero management and asset management fees (excluding fund fees, etc.). It also greatly enhanced user convenience by launching the "3-Minute Pension" service, which eliminates the need for filling out and sending application documents (excluding time for providing personal information and checking terms and conditions).
Samsung Securities also offers fast and convenient pension management services such as "Robo Discretionary" and "ETF Accumulation" through its official mobile trading system, mPOP.
In addition, Samsung Securities was the first in the industry to establish dedicated pension centers, currently operating three locations in Seoul, Suwon, and Daegu. These centers provide specialized pension consulting services delivered by experienced staff with over 10 years of experience as private bankers.
The Samsung Securities Pension Center not only offers consultations for pension subscribers but also supports seminars and briefings for corporations introducing retirement pensions. Over the past year alone, it held more than 900 seminars.
Jang Hyoseon, Executive Director and Head of the Pension Division at Samsung Securities, stated, "It is important to manage retirement pensions systematically with a long-term perspective," adding, "Samsung Securities will do its utmost to be a reliable pension partner for customers by providing excellent pension management services."
