Academic Policy Overview, Bonding Activities, and Course Registration Guidance to Prepare for Campus Life

"What's your major?" "Liberal!" The bold first steps of Pukyong National University's Class of 2026 have begun.

Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) held the 2026 Department of Liberal Arts Orientation on January 20 at the University Theater and Pukyong Convention Hall.

The Department of Liberal Arts allows freshmen to enter without declaring a major and freely choose their field of study from their sophomore year based on their career aspirations. Established for the first time in the 2025 academic year, the department selected about 900 new students this year for its second cohort.

The event, organized by the Liberal Arts Pathway Center, a dedicated support body for the Department of Liberal Arts, brought together around 600 participants, including freshmen and mentors. The program included an introduction to the department, an overview of academic policies and campus life, introductions to academic advisors, information on support programs, a campus tour, bonding activities, and guidance on course registration.

Notably, seniors from last year's inaugural class of the Department of Liberal Arts participated as mentors, directly sharing their insights on exploring majors and navigating university life with the new students. These seniors also gave special lectures, presenting their journeys of major exploration over the past year and sharing vivid experiences with the freshmen.

Choi Hoseok, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, said, "I hope this event marks the joyful beginning of university life for students in the Department of Liberal Arts. We will spare no effort to support students as they freely explore majors and design their futures."
