Seo District in Gwangju Launches "Safety Keeper" Project for Single Women Households

24-Hour Safety Service for Women

Seo District in Gwangju Launches "Safety Keeper" Project for Single Women Households

Seo District in Gwangju Metropolitan City is implementing the "Safety Keeper Support Project" to enhance residential safety for single women households and similar groups.

This project provides a comprehensive residential safety service for single women households, single-mother families, and women who have been victims of crime. The service includes the installation of CCTV cameras and emergency bells, as well as the integration of emergency dispatch services. Participants can utilize features such as real-time monitoring of their front door via CCTV, automatic alerts when unfamiliar individuals are detected loitering, emergency dispatch requests through a panic button or mobile app, 24-hour emergency dispatch connectivity, and the ability to check entry records for their front door.

Seo District plans to further strengthen the service this year by reflecting user feedback and operational results from the previous year.

In particular, the district will upgrade to the latest equipment capable of providing clearer video footage and extend the service period for existing users who wish to continue, ensuring uninterrupted service. According to last year's user satisfaction survey, 97% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the service, and 92 existing users indicated their desire to extend the service this year.

This year, Seo District will subsidize service fees for approximately 130 users. Residents who wish to apply should prepare the required documents listed in the public notice section of the Seo District Office website and submit them either in person to the Gender Equality and Child Welfare Division or their local administrative welfare center, or via email.

Kim Minjeong, Head of the Gender Equality and Child Welfare Division, stated, "The Safety Keeper project is an effective policy that reduces anxiety about crime and enhances psychological stability in daily life. This year, we will continue to provide meticulous and ongoing residential safety support to ensure there are no blind spots in Seo District."

Meanwhile, Seo District also plans to provide a "Safety Kit," which includes self-defense and security items, for households where installing CCTV is not feasible due to structural limitations.
