The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has officially launched the "Seoul Police Security Partners" to strengthen communication with citizens and foster practical security cooperation.
On January 20, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency held an inauguration ceremony and joint meeting for the "Seoul Police Security Partners" with citizens at its headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The event was attended by Park Jeongbo, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, as well as 30 representatives from 14 organizations including members of mom communities, voluntary crime prevention units, and the Green Mothers Association, along with police officials, totaling 51 participants.
The "Seoul Police Security Partners" is a communication council that extends the scope of cooperation beyond existing police-affiliated groups to include actual security service users such as members of mom communities. It was established with the aim of gathering real voices from the field and reflecting them in practical security policies.
At the event, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency shared key initiatives such as the Seoul Traffic Re-Design Project, the Basic Order Re-Design Project, measures to secure public trust in police investigations, and strategies for responding to relationship-based crimes and protecting victims. They also discussed the future direction of public safety in Seoul.
To coincide with the launch, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency opened a dedicated communication platform called "Seoul Police Cheong (Listening)" on its website. This platform is expected to serve as a channel through which Security Partners members can continuously submit policy proposals and field opinions. Submitted feedback will be reviewed and answered directly by the relevant departments and will be used as reference material for future improvements to security policies.
Commissioner Park Jeongbo emphasized, "In a rapidly changing security environment, public safety can no longer be achieved by the police alone. We will actively gather valuable opinions from citizens to create a Seoul where everyone feels understood and safe."
