Gwangmyeong City to Provide Up to 20 Million Won for Safety Management of Small-Scale Multi-Family Housing Complexes

Priority Support for Fire Prevention in Pilotis Structures and Facility Repairs
Mayor Park Seungwon: "We Will Create a Residential Environment Free of Safety Blind Spots"

Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province will provide funding for fire prevention and facility reinforcement projects targeting small-scale multi-family housing complexes that are vulnerable to safety risks.

Gwangmyeong City to Provide Up to 20 Million Won for Safety Management of Small-Scale Multi-Family Housing Complexes

On January 20, Gwangmyeong City announced that it will provide up to 20 million won for the safety management of small-scale multi-family housing complexes, such as row houses and multiplex houses with fewer than 30 units.

The purpose of this project is to address safety blind spots in small-scale multi-family housing complexes, which face higher management costs and difficulties in systematic maintenance due to their limited number of units.

The eligible recipients are multi-family housing complexes, such as row houses and multiplex houses with fewer than 30 units, that were approved for use more than 15 years ago, according to the Building Act. Single-family homes and multi-household residences are excluded from support.

The support covers: ▲ performance reinforcement for fire prevention in pilotis buildings ▲ emergency repairs for exterior walls, fences, stone retaining walls, reinforced retaining walls, and slopes ▲ safety measures for outdoor facilities ▲ maintenance of common areas such as waterproofing of rooftops and replacement of roofing materials ▲ paving and repair projects within the site ▲ repair and replacement of aging elevators.

The city will provide up to 20 million won, covering up to 80% of the construction cost.

In particular, the city plans to prioritize support for fire prevention performance reinforcement in pilotis buildings and repair or reinforcement work for facilities with a high risk of safety accidents.

Multi-family housing complexes wishing to receive support must visit the Urban Regeneration Division at Open Citizens Hall by March 20 to submit an application. The application form can be downloaded from the notice board on the Gwangmyeong City website.

The city will select the recipients through on-site inspections and reviews by the screening committee. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Urban Regeneration Division of Gwangmyeong City.

Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seungwon stated, "We will carefully look after even small-scale multi-family housing complexes that have been difficult to manage, prevent accidents, and create a residential environment where citizens can feel safe and at ease."

Previously, the city launched the 'Support Project for the Management of Small-Scale Multi-Family Housing Complexes' for the first time last year, providing safety reinforcement for six facilities at risk of safety accidents, including repairs to retaining walls, fences, stairs and exposed rebar, replacement of roof tiles, and rooftop waterproofing.
