Used for Nurturing Table Tennis Prospects, Free Senior Center Meals, and Heavy Rainfall Recovery
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province is achieving tangible results by allocating donations raised through the Hometown Love Donation Program to address local issues such as education, welfare, and disaster response.
On January 20, Cheongyang County announced that it had raised a total of 442 million won through the Hometown Love Donation Program in 2025 and utilized these funds for areas essential to the region.
The main projects promoted last year using the Hometown Love Fund included: the "National Team Dream Nurturing Project" for the Jeongsan Elementary, Middle, and High School table tennis teams; the "Community Seniors Shared Meal" free meal service at senior centers; and an emergency fundraising campaign via designated donations for recovery in areas declared special disaster zones due to heavy rainfall.
In the field of education, the county invested 50 million won to support the purchase of training equipment, participation in competitions, and off-site training for table tennis athletes at Jeongsan-myeon elementary, middle, and high schools.
The county explained that, as a result, eight youth national team athletes were selected last year, marking a significant achievement in fostering student athletics.
In the welfare sector, 52 million won in donations were used to operate the "Community Seniors Shared Meal" project, which provided free meals centered around senior centers.
The county stated that this initiative contributed to improving the dietary habits and stabilizing the daily lives of seniors in need of care.
Additionally, when a special disaster zone was declared due to heavy rainfall last summer, the county conducted an emergency fundraising campaign through designated donations, raising 15 million won. The donated funds were used for disaster recovery efforts directly related to residents' daily lives, such as river restoration.
County Governor Kim Dongon said, "The funds raised through the Hometown Love Donation Program are being utilized in a timely manner to meet local needs, turning the purpose of the donations into real outcomes on the ground. We will continue to ensure that donations are managed transparently and efficiently."
Meanwhile, since December of last year, Cheongyang County has launched fundraising for "Jeongsan Elementary, Middle, and High School Table Tennis Team Dream Nurturing Project Season 3." The county also plans to continue expanding the use of the Hometown Love Donation Program by discovering additional designated donation projects and general fund initiatives that reflect local conditions.
