Daegu City will announce the plan for the '2026 Security Guard Recruitment Examination' on its official website on January 21.
This recruitment aims to fill eight positions, taking into account vacancies due to retirements and other reasons. To ensure fair and transparent hiring, the selection will be conducted through an open competitive examination.
In 2025, there were two positions available with 169 applicants, resulting in a competition ratio of 84.5 to 1. No recruitment was conducted in 2024.
Notably, starting from the 2026 recruitment examination, Daegu City will replace the existing physical fitness test with the submission of results from the nationally certified 'National Fitness 100' program. This change is intended to enhance fairness and objectivity in evaluation, while also reducing administrative burden and costs, as well as easing the preparation burden for applicants.
Only certificates issued within one year of the final examination date (interview) will be valid, and applicants must achieve a comprehensive fitness grade of Level 2 or higher.
Applicants must not have any disqualifications under the National Civil Service Act, must be at least 18 years old, and must be able to work in shifts, including night and day, due to the nature of the work. Anyone meeting these criteria is eligible to apply.
Additionally, Daegu City will reintroduce the residency restriction system to give preference to local talent and select individuals with a high understanding of the region. This is expected to improve on-site adaptability and work continuity, thereby enhancing stability in personnel management.
The selection process will involve a written examination and document screening, with successful candidates selected within 1.5 times the number of available positions. Final candidates will be determined through interviews in May. The written examination will cover two subjects: general knowledge and private security theory.
Applications will be accepted for three days from February 11 to February 13 through the Local Government Internet Application Center, and the written examination will be held on March 21.
An Junggon, Director of the Daegu City Administration Bureau, stated, "This revision of the recruitment system is aimed at enhancing fairness and reliability, as well as expanding the participation of local talent. We will continue to establish a transparent talent selection system that citizens can trust."
