Secured Nine Individually Approved Functional Ingredients

On January 20, hy announced that its independently developed probiotic 'HY7017' has been recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as an 'individually approved functional ingredient' (hereinafter referred to as individually approved ingredient) that may help enhance immune function.

An individually approved ingredient is granted only to materials whose functionality and safety have been verified, and exclusive use of the ingredient is guaranteed for a certain period. With this certification, the number of individually approved ingredients held by hy has increased to nine.

HY7017 is a strain discovered in ginseng roots. Over 1.1 billion KRW was invested over five years to develop it. Among domestically recognized individually approved ingredients, HY7017 is the only probiotic officially recognized for its potential to support immune function. It is also notable for being a naturally derived strain with scientific evidence supporting its efficacy.

Researchers at hy confirmed the functionality of this strain through both animal studies and human clinical trials. In a trial involving adults with slightly weakened immune systems, the group that consumed HY7017 experienced a 5.0% increase in natural killer cell activity. Two types of cytokines (IFN-γ, IL-12), which are involved in the activation of natural killer cells and regulation of immune responses, also increased. The simultaneous improvement of key immune-related indicators distinguishes this study from previous research.

hy is currently producing and selling its product 'Mpro Immune' using HY7017, and plans to expand its application to a wider range of products.

Meanwhile, hy discovers strains and verifies their functionality through its own research, assigning a strain number to each. A strain number is a unique identifier that allows the origin and safety of the strain to be traced. hy has secured 99 strains with strain numbers, which are clearly indicated on its products.
