2026 Visit Geochang Year ... Geochang County Ramps Up Efforts to Attract Group Tourists

Revitalizing Geochang Tourism and Boosting the Local Economy

Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on January 20 that it will actively implement the "2026 Group Tourist Attraction Incentive Support Project" for travel agencies in celebration of the "2026 Visit Geochang Year."

This project aims to promote Geochang County's outstanding tourism resources by attracting both domestic and international group tourists, and to revitalize the local economy by encouraging longer stays.

The support is available to travel agencies registered under the Tourism Promotion Act. Incentives will be provided if they attract groups of 20 or more domestic or international tourists who visit local attractions and use restaurants in the county, thereby meeting the support requirements.

The support amounts are as follows: 5,000 won per person for day trips, 10,000 won per person for one-night stays, and 15,000 won per person for stays of two nights or more. For school excursions, the support ranges from 5,000 won to 10,000 won per person, with an additional bus rental fee of up to 400,000 won provided according to the criteria. However, overlapping support by type is not allowed, and the annual support limit per travel agency is capped at 5 million won.

Last year, Geochang County attracted 4,053 group tourists through this project, achieving a significant result with approximately 62 million won in local consumption, which is about 261% of the support funds provided.

Ok Jin-sook, Head of the Tourism Promotion Division, stated, "To mark the 2026 Visit Geochang Year, we are planning and implementing various projects so that many tourists from across the country can visit Geochang County's outstanding attractions," adding, "We hope you enjoy a happy trip in Geochang, a tourism city with a tourism belt established in all directions."

Meanwhile, Geochang County is pursuing a variety of tourism projects this year under the vision of "A place for healing in all four seasons, an inspiring journey to Geochang," with the goal of attracting 10 million visitors during the Visit Geochang Year.
