This meeting brought together city officials, local community organizations from the Dogye area, and experts to exchange opinions, establish the basic direction for the medical cluster project based on the carbon ion cancer treatment center, and share the scope of work, implementation methods, and step-by-step schedules to develop an effective development plan.

The key theme of the meeting was "A Catalyst for Revitalizing Local Healthcare and the Economy." Through the medical cluster project based on carbon ion cancer treatment, which passed the government's preliminary feasibility study in August last year, the city aims to promote industrial transformation and foster alternative industries in coal industry transition areas, while also sharing future growth directions and execution strategies for the region.

The medical cluster project based on carbon ion cancer treatment is a large-scale initiative that will invest a total of 360.3 billion won by 2030 to establish a carbon ion accelerator cancer treatment center, an 80-bed care center, clinical education and research facilities, and accommodations for medical staff, patients, and caregivers on a 120,000-square-meter site in Heungjeon-ri, Dogye-eup.
