On January 19, Jeollanam-do announced that Governor Kim Youngrok attended the Gwangju-Jeonnam Administrative Integration Talk Concert, held at Mudeung Hall in Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall by the Gwangju-Jeonnam Special City Promotion Committee. During the event, Governor Kim explained the background and necessity of pursuing administrative integration and took time to communicate with citizens of both Gwangju and Jeonnam.

The talk concert, which began under the theme "Gwangju Citizens Ask, Governor Kim Youngrok Answers!", was organized to address questions and concerns that citizens of Gwangju and Jeonnam have regarding administrative integration. The governor personally provided explanations and listened to a variety of opinions from the public.

The event was conducted in the format of a conversation between Governor Kim and Oh Seungyong, Executive Representative of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Special City Promotion Committee. In addition to field questions from citizens, the event expanded online participation by allowing real-time Q&A through comments during a YouTube live broadcast.

During the talk concert, Governor Kim explained the background and necessity of the Gwangju-Jeonnam administrative integration, the future procedures, and key issues. He also addressed various opinions and questions from citizens regarding plans for balanced regional development, strategies for gathering public opinion, and major special provisions to be enacted through special legislation. In particular, there was significant interest in the process of collecting public opinion during the integration process.

Jeollanam-do stated that, in addition to this talk concert, it plans to widely collect citizens' opinions throughout the entire process of pursuing administrative integration by holding public hearings in all 22 cities and counties, as well as operating online communication platforms to ensure thorough deliberation and public discussion. Prior to the talk concert, the first public hearing was held in Yeongam, where the integration plan and special provisions were explained and citizens' opinions were carefully listened to.

Governor Kim Youngrok stated, "The administrative integration of Gwangju and Jeonnam is a crucial task that will shape the next 100 years for the region and serve as a turning point for the development of Honam. It was very meaningful to be able to directly hear the diverse opinions of citizens through this talk concert."

He added, "We will continue to expand on-site communication by visiting all 22 cities and counties for public hearings, ensuring that the will of every citizen, as the true owners of the unified local government, is fully reflected."

He concluded by reiterating, "We will unite the aspirations of 3.2 million citizens to steadily create a new history of grand integration and revival for Gwangju and Jeonnam."
