Gwangju Transportation Corporation Opens Themed Space
Embodying Coexistence and Solidarity
Gwangju Songjeong Station, the gateway to the Honam region, has been newly renovated as a space featuring "inclusive design" that accommodates people of all ages and abilities, regardless of disabilities.
On January 19, Gwangju Transportation Corporation held an opening ceremony for the themed space with inclusive design at Gwangju Songjeong Station in Gwangsan-gu.

The event was attended by Kang Gijung, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City; seven city council members from the Industrial Construction Committee and the Environment and Welfare Committee; Kim Youngsun, Chairman of the Gwangju Federation of Disabled Persons; Yoon Beommo, CEO of Gwangju Biennale Foundation; as well as about 100 local residents.
This project is characterized by reflecting both the "Mudeung Spirit," which is the urban identity of Gwangju, and the theme of "inclusion" from the 2025 Gwangju Design Biennale throughout the station. Highly visible graphics at the entrance, intuitive signage in the waiting area, and information counters at varying heights have been implemented to ensure that all users, including people with disabilities and the elderly, can use the facilities easily and efficiently.
President Moon Seokhwan stated, "I hope that this themed space, which embodies Gwangju's spirit of unity, will serve as a catalyst for regional development," adding, "We will strive to become a public corporation that leads the way in promoting citizens' happiness."

Since February last year, Gwangju Transportation Corporation has continued projects that go beyond transportation services to enhance daily convenience, such as collaborating with Gwangju City and Gwangju Shinsegae to create a citizen communication space at Nongseong Station.
