This press conference drew attention as it marked the last media briefing in Mayor Jung's 31-year political career, which began in 1995. The interest was heightened because Mayor Jung had already announced in September of the previous year that he would not run in future public elections and would retire from politics after completing his tenure as the 8th popularly elected mayor of Pyeongtaek.

During the conference, Mayor Jung reflected on his achievements during the 7th and 8th terms, noting significant progress in resolving long-standing local issues, expanding urban infrastructure, and fostering future industries.

He cited the development of the Pyeongtaek Lake Tourism Complex, the creation of the Brain City General Industrial Complex, the successful attraction of an international school, KAIST, and Ajou University Hospital, as well as the reorganization of the public transportation system, as major accomplishments during his tenure.

Mayor Jung presented six core directions for this year's city administration: prioritizing local economic revitalization for residents' livelihoods; fostering a self-sufficient economy and advanced future industries; building a balanced city with convenient living conditions; creating a green and environmentally friendly city; developing an international cultural city rich in attractions; and promoting education for the future along with comprehensive welfare.

Regarding the Samsung Pyeongtaek Campus, Mayor Jung stated his intention to strengthen support to ensure the smooth resumption of the P5 construction project. He also outlined plans to proceed without delay with the development of the comprehensive funeral facility, which has been confirmed for Eunsan 1-ri in Jinwi-myeon.

He expressed particular interest in the redevelopment of the multi-purpose cultural plaza in front of Pyeongtaek Station, which is scheduled for completion in September. According to Mayor Jung, once finished, the plaza will serve as a key hub for the revitalization of the declining old downtown area.

He added that he would thoroughly prepare for other major projects crucial to the city's future, such as the development of the Pyeongtaek Jije Station multi-modal transfer center-where the project operator is set to be selected in July-and the KAIST Pyeongtaek Campus, to ensure they proceed without setbacks during his remaining term.

Mayor Jung stated, "Pyeongtaek will grow into a major city with a population of 1.05 million by 2040," adding, "I will not cease my efforts to build a sustainable city where citizens can live stably during the remainder of my term."
