Marriage Congratulatory Grant of Up to 4 Million Won
Youth Career and Startup Center, Educational Programs Offered
Support for Foreign Residents, Including Nationality Acquisition Cost Assistance
The population of Jangseong County in Jeonnam has increased by 1,116 people over the past year. In response to the growing population, the county plans to focus its efforts on improving settlement conditions through policies such as promoting marriage and childbirth and expanding job opportunities.
According to Jangseong County on January 19, the population of Jangseong County as of December last year was 44,369, an increase of 1,116 compared to a year earlier.
This population growth trend is expected to lead to a medium- to long-term change in the population structure, rather than being a temporary phenomenon. Starting in the second half of this year, residents will begin moving into the Gwangju R&D Special Zone Advanced District 3 residential complex, which consists of 3,729 households. This could increase the population by 8,000 to as many as 10,000 people, equivalent to the addition of another town within Jangseong County.
In preparation for the population surpassing 50,000, Jangseong County is focusing on systematic expansion of social infrastructure and on creating a "child-friendly city."
The county is concentrating its administrative capacity on creating an environment conducive to childbirth and childrearing by providing a "marriage congratulatory grant" of up to 4 million won, as well as offering services such as ▲health checkups for newlyweds (and engaged couples) ▲preconception health management ▲newborn childcare subsidies ▲basic birth allowances ▲birth celebration gifts ▲first meeting vouchers ▲and maternal and newborn health management services.
Efforts are also being made to promote youth policies. The county plans to open a "Youth Center" in February, which will provide essential services for young people, including career and business startup counseling and educational programs. It is expected to become a key facility for communication and networking among local youth.
The "Jangseong Culinary Industry Promotion Center," which will support young people pursuing careers in the food service industry, is also drawing attention. The center will create jobs and support startups by developing cuisine using local specialties, offering educational programs, and running initiatives that connect with local agricultural products. It is scheduled to open around April.
There is also an ongoing project to renovate the Hwangryong Nonghyup Hanaro Mart building to create a youth commercial complex. The county plans to invigorate the Hwangryong Traditional Market by providing affordable rental spaces for young people aspiring to start food service businesses.
At the same time, support for the steadily increasing foreign resident population is also being expanded. The county is focusing on practical initiatives such as ▲building dormitories for foreign workers ▲implementing region-specific visa programs ▲supporting home visit education for multicultural families ▲providing programs for multicultural families to visit their home countries ▲and subsidizing nationality acquisition costs.
Kim Hanjong, Governor of Jangseong County, stated, "The move-in to the Advanced District 3 residential complex, along with the integration of Gwangju and Jeonnam, will accelerate the population growth of Jangseong County. We will prepare for a new golden era for Jangseong by implementing comprehensive population policies that cover marriage, childbirth, parenting, youth settlement, harmony between local and foreign residents, and job creation, as well as by improving settlement conditions."
