The National Police Agency announced on January 20 that it will operate the "First Integrated Weapons Instructor Training Program."
This program has been established to cultivate key personnel who can quickly adapt to the rapidly changing environment of weapons and equipment, such as the introduction of low-risk handguns and new shields, as well as to enhance practical training for responding to knife attacks.
In December of last year, 200 elite personnel were selected from police agencies across the country, and 198 of them are now participating in the first training program.
Once certified, the integrated instructors will be registered as "peer instructors in the local police sector." After returning to their respective provincial police agencies, they will serve as instructors for monthly ongoing training, passing on practical techniques to frontline officers.
An official from the National Police Agency stated, "We will continue to do our utmost to create a public safety environment where citizens can feel secure."
