Based on the results of its first year, the city will expand the eligible participants for this year's program to include 1st grade middle school students.
The center will select participants by comprehensively considering students' academic aptitude, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. Details such as eligibility requirements, application qualifications, selection schedule, and procedures can be found in the recruitment notice posted on the Ansan City Hall website.
To this end, the city will hold an admissions information session on January 31 in the main conference room of Ansan City Hall. The session will provide information on the center's operational direction, curriculum, student selection process, and application methods.
Lee Minkuen, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "We have expanded the target group to include 1st grade middle school students starting this year to provide more students with the opportunity to participate in the program," adding, "We will do our best to create a learning environment that can draw out each student's potential."
Meanwhile, Ansan City is also expanding educational opportunities for nurturing future local talent by collaborating with Korea University College of Medicine's Ansan Hospital to operate a gifted education center.
On January 17, the 'Korea University Ansan Hospital Gifted Center' held its 2025 completion ceremony, graduating 30 students. The Korea University Ansan Hospital Gifted Center offers an inquiry- and experiment-based curriculum for elementary school students interested in the medical field.
Starting this year, the center will increase its capacity to 40 students, providing educational opportunities to a greater number of students.
