Responding to the Needs of Foreign and Disabled Tourists
Field Placement Begins in August 2026 After Training and Internship
Application Period: February 2 to 4
Gumi City, North Gyeongsang Province, will publicly recruit trainees for the "2026 Gumi City Cultural Tourism Guide New Training Course" from February 2 to February 4, 2026, in order to meet the interpretation needs of foreign and disabled tourists.
A total of five people will be selected: two for English, one for Chinese, one for Japanese, and one for sign language. Applicants must be citizens aged 19 or older who are registered residents of Gumi City as of the announcement date. They should possess basic knowledge of Gumi’s history, culture, and tourism, and be able to provide interpretation in a foreign language (or sign language) as volunteers.
Applicants must visit the Romantic Tourism Division in person to submit their documents. Detailed information can be found in the announcement posted on the city's website under the Notices/Announcements/Legislation section.
The selection process consists of a first-round document review (40 points) and a second-round interview (60 points). The interview will comprehensively assess interpretation ability, foreign language (or sign language) proficiency, and commitment to volunteer service.
Those who are finally selected will complete a 100-hour new training course organized by North Gyeongsang Province, followed by a three-month on-site internship supervised by Gumi City. They will officially begin working as cultural tourism guides after August 2026.
Jang Jeongsu, head of the Romantic Tourism Division, stated, "Through this new training course, we will systematically nurture guides with professionalism and language skills to provide customized interpretation services for both domestic and international tourists."
