The Gyeonggi-do Fire Service Specialized Library, located within the Gyeonggi-do Fire Service Academy, will participate in the National Library of Korea’s “Chaekbada Service” starting January 19.
The “Chaekbada Service” is an interlibrary loan program operated by the National Library of Korea. It allows users to request books and have them delivered to a nearby library for borrowing and use.
With this participation, the Gyeonggi-do Fire Service Academy expects to significantly expand access to books, not only for Gyeonggi-do fire officials but also for civilians enrolling in the Fire Service Academy.
To use the service, individuals need to register as a member on the National Library of Korea website and then request books through the Chaekbada Service. The requested books will be provided through the Gyeonggi-do Fire Service Specialized Library.
An official from the Gyeonggi-do Fire Service Academy stated, “The Chaekbada Service is the first step toward creating an environment where ‘necessary knowledge arrives on time’ even in fire service education,” adding, “We will do our best to foster strong fire service professionals by building a learning environment that cultivates both expertise and humanities capabilities.”
This participation marks the first implementation among fire service academies nationwide and is expected to serve as an opportunity to further expand the infrastructure for learning, research, and humanities capabilities at specialized fire service education institutions.
