Early Intervention Solution Contest for Children with Developmental Delays and Disabilities
Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance announced on January 19 that it has selected the final 12 teams to advance to the SPACE-1 stage in the 'AIMaum Exploration Team', an early intervention solution contest for children with developmental delays and developmental disabilities.
The AIMaum Exploration Team is a three-year, 15 billion won social contribution project sponsored by Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance and co-hosted by Severance Hospital, Save the Children Korea, and Impact Square. The goal is to discover, validate, and disseminate innovative solutions for the early detection and intervention of children with developmental delays and developmental disabilities.

Previously, Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance selected 31 teams with high potential for the SPACE-0 stage out of a total of 304 applicants and supported them in refining their clinical plans. The company went beyond a simple selection process by providing feedback from expert judges and conducting on-site clinical visits to enhance the completeness of the solutions. The selected AIMaum Exploration Team SPACE-1 teams will now conduct pilot studies with actual children for the next six months, verifying the feasibility and initial effectiveness of each solution.
The representative organizations of the advancing teams include: ▲ Catholic University Incheon St. Mary's Hospital Department of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Consortium ▲ Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital Department of Psychiatry Consortium ▲ Seoul National University Department of Rehabilitation Medicine Consortium ▲ Seoul National University Hospital Center for Behavioral Development Consortium ▲ Ewha Womans University Department of Speech-Language Pathology ▲ Purme Foundation Nexon Children's Rehabilitation Hospital Department of Psychiatry ▲ Purme Foundation Nexon Children's Rehabilitation Hospital Department of Rehabilitation Medicine ▲ JamJam Therapeutics Co., Ltd. ▲ Language Development Institute Co., Ltd. Consortium ▲ Newdive Co., Ltd. Consortium ▲ Soliv Ventures Co., Ltd. Consortium ▲ Huraypositive Co., Ltd. Consortium, totaling 12 teams.
Many of the selected teams are consortia involving hospitals with expertise in child development and startups with technological capabilities, as well as collaborations between two or more institutions.
The final six teams that pass the SPACE-1 stage will advance to SPACE-2, each receiving a total of 1.1 billion won in support. They will conduct randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with more than 80 children to rigorously demonstrate the scientific effectiveness of their solutions. The plan is to help ensure that these validated solutions can be more effectively utilized in early intervention treatments for children.
Jung Kyungsun, Vice President of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, stated, "The AIMaum Exploration Team is a contest operated with a step-by-step validation structure over three years, designed to ensure that more focused resources are invested in solutions whose effectiveness has been verified. Although the process requires significant time and resources, we chose this structure to create real, beneficial changes for children with developmental delays and disabilities and their families."
