"Supporting Career Planning for Multicultural Youth"... Kia Recruits Participants for 'Harmonium' Program

On January 19, Kia announced that it will begin recruiting participants for the 3rd session of the "Harmonium Education Program," which supports the stable social integration of multicultural youth.

"Harmonium" is a social contribution initiative by Kia aimed at improving social awareness of multiculturalism and supporting the growth of future generations from multicultural backgrounds.

The Harmonium Education Program is a specialized job training course held twice a year to help multicultural youth explore career paths. The program was newly launched last year and successfully produced its first group of graduates.

For its 3rd session, the program will expand its support to strengthen multicultural inclusivity by also recruiting North Korean defector youth. It will be offered to a total of 40 participants-25 multicultural youth and 15 North Korean defector youth-from April to August.

The curriculum consists of hands-on training in four specialized fields: IT, video production, food & beverage (F&B), and landscaping. The program is designed to help participants proactively plan their career paths and enhance their employability by gaining experience in various sectors.

Over the five-month program, trainees will have opportunities to explore different job roles, participate in practical training, and take part in internships with social ventures, allowing them to clarify their career goals.

Kia will provide all participants with transportation expenses and internship work scholarships, and outstanding graduates will receive additional scholarships.

Students wishing to participate can apply through the official Harmonium website until March 11. Final candidates will be selected in March through a document review and in-person interviews.

Meanwhile, on January 13, Kia held a "Kia Day" event for current 2nd session trainees, giving them the opportunity to build camaraderie and a sense of belonging through Kia brand experiences.

During the event, participants visited the Gwangmyeong EV Plant, took part in the Kia 360 Heritage Tour, and received mentoring from industry professionals. These activities allowed them to create lasting memories with their peers and experience the real-world atmosphere of the industry, further motivating them in their career exploration.

Lee Deokhyun, Vice President and Head of Kia's Sustainability Management Division, stated, "As our society transitions into a multicultural one and diversity of backgrounds increases, we have expanded the program to include North Korean defector youth. Through the Harmonium Education Program, we will continue to support multicultural youth so that they can grow into healthy members of Korean society."
