Effective Monthly Fee of 100 Won for New 47,000-Won Plan
"Double Points" Event for All Air Users
Over 100,000 App Members in Just 100 Days Since Launch
To mark the 100th day since the launch of its exclusive digital communication service for unlocked phones, "Air," SK Telecom is rolling out a variety of promotions targeting new subscribers and more.
Launched in October of last year, Air has surpassed 100,000 app members, rapidly expanding among the digital generation thanks to its affordable pricing structure, point-based benefits, and app-centric user experience.
The service features a simple rate plan divided into six core 5G data tiers and a point benefit system. Users can accumulate points through simple missions and use them to pay their monthly bill (up to 5,000 points per month) or purchase from a selection of over 1,000 popular products, including Naver Pay points, convenience store, department store, and Olive Young gift cards, as well as various F&B items.
100GB for 100 Won … Double Mission Points Awarded
SK Telecom announced on January 19 that it will hold a "100 Days, 100GB for 100 Won" event from January 19 to 24, offering generous point rewards to new subscribers in celebration of Air's 100th day since launch.
During the event period, customers who newly subscribe to Air or switch their number to Air will receive additional points, allowing them to use the 5G 100GB plan-normally priced at 47,000 won per month-at an effective cost of just 100 won for the first month.
Specifically, in addition to the 27,000 won worth of bonus pack points typically offered to new subscribers, an extra 19,900 secret points will be provided, reducing the effective monthly cost to 100 won. Up to 5,000 points per month can be used for bill payment, with the remainder available for use in the point shop.
For the following five months after the first, a combined total of 37,000 points (bonus pack plus secret points) will be awarded each month, allowing customers to use the 100GB plan at an effective cost of 10,000 won per month. SIM card shipping, SIM card purchase, and eSIM download fees will be waived for the first transaction.
In addition to new subscribers, all Air users-including existing customers-can participate in the "Double Points" event. During the event, users who complete missions in the Air app will earn twice as many points as usual. Eligible missions include the pedometer, Today's Pick, Weekly Pick, and Friend Invitation missions.
For example, in the pedometer mission, the reward for reaching 1,000 steps will increase from 100 to 200 points, and the base participation reward for the Weekly Pick mission will also rise from 100 to 200 points.
Within just 100 days of launch, the Air app has surpassed 100,000 members, and the cumulative number of mission participations by customers seeking points has reached 1 million. The total points earned through missions have exceeded 1 billion. The number of weekly active users (WAU) on the Air app has also steadily increased, now reaching 22,000.
The average monthly point usage per line subscriber is now above 20,000 won. Customers typically use 5,000 points per month for bill payment, with the remaining points spent on gift cards and products in the Air app's point shop. The combination of telecom bill discounts and point consumption is helping customers save on living expenses.
Air App Service to Be Revamped in Q1 … More Intuitive Structure and New Missions Planned
SK Telecom will also carry out a service overhaul within the first quarter to enhance the customer experience. The company plans to improve the app's structure by streamlining the path for earning and using points and arranging key features more intuitively, making it easier for users to access benefits within the app.
Furthermore, a reward-based advertising model will be introduced, allowing users to optionally receive additional benefits during app usage, thereby enhancing both service competitiveness and perceived customer value.
Gu Hyuncheol, Head of Sales & Marketing at SK Telecom, stated, "Air was designed with customer feedback as the top priority, and within just 100 days of launch, we have achieved a meaningful member base, establishing ourselves as a new alternative in the unlocked phone market. We will continue to develop Air into a beloved service among the digital generation by offering reasonable prices, diverse point benefits, and convenient digital services."
