Four Japanese Directors to Attend and Hold Audience Q&A Sessions
A special showcase focusing on Japanese independent films that have never been introduced in Korea will be held.
Indie Space announced on the 19th that it will host the 1st Exchange Film Festival for two days starting February 21. The event is designed to connect the independent film communities of Korea and Japan. A total of six films will be screened.
On the first day, under the theme "Struggles of Wandering Youth," the festival will feature "Lightning Over Love" directed by Yuya Ishii, the documentary "Tokyo Uber Blues" by Taku Aoyagi, and "You Will Always Be Younger Than Him" by Ryohei Yoshino.
On the second day, with the theme "The Process of Becoming an Adult," the lineup includes "The Children Don't Know" by Shuichi Okita, "Route 29" by Yusuke Morii, and "Love in a One-Room Apartment" by Takatora Masuda.
This is a rare opportunity to see unreleased new films featuring well-known actors in Korea such as Haruka Ayase and Sho Kasamatsu. The directors are also scheduled to visit Korea. Directors Okita, Aoyagi, Yoshino, and Masuda will attend and hold a Q&A session with the audience after the screenings.
Jung Daehee, programmer of Exchange Film, stated, "These are works that sensitively capture the present era at the intersection of commerce and art," adding, "We are also planning to introduce Korean independent films at Japanese mini-theaters in the future."
