5,900 Applicants Last Year
450% Growth Compared to the Previous Year
The Korea Productivity Center announced on January 19 that the cumulative number of applicants for the "AI Prompt Utilization Ability (AI-POT)" certification exam has surpassed 7,200 in just two years since its launch, establishing itself as a leading certification for artificial intelligence (AI) competency.
Launched for the first time in 2024, AI-POT attracted 1,309 applicants in its inaugural year. Last year, with the introduction of the Level 1 certification, the number of applicants grew to 1,657 for Level 1 and 4,243 for Level 2, totaling 5,900 applicants in a single year. With a cumulative total of 7,209 applicants, AI-POT is recording rapid growth among private certification information services.
The greatest strength of AI-POT lies in its adoption of hands-on, practical questions. In particular, the Level 1 certification requires candidates to use generative AI platforms directly to solve descriptive problems. This means that the exam identifies talent who can effectively utilize AI in real-world settings, not just those with theoretical knowledge. In addition, AI-POT evaluates the ability to address copyright issues and misinformation that may arise from using generative AI, providing companies with a reliable standard for hiring talent.
An official from the Korea Productivity Center explained, "AI-POT is not just a test of theoretical knowledge; it verifies practical skills that can be immediately applied in the workplace, which is why it is receiving strong responses from both companies and individuals."
Building on the success of AI-POT, the Korea Productivity Center plans to make this year the starting point for advancing its certifications. Based on the detailed job analysis research conducted since 2024, the center will seek national certification approval and expand its lineup with the "AIBT (AI Business Test)" to verify business analysis skills and the expert-level "GTQ-AI" certification.
Park Sungjoong, Chairman of the Korea Productivity Center, stated, "The explosive growth of AI-POT is the result of the comprehensive platform 'AI Inno-Hub' strategy launched in 2025," adding, "In an era where AI competency is no longer a choice but a matter of survival, we will fulfill our role as Korea's 'AI pacemaker' through certifications, education, consulting, and research planning."
