Civilian casualties continue as Russia attacks residential areas in Ukraine with drones.

On January 18 (local time), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted on social media, saying, "Last night, more than 200 attack drones were launched toward Ukraine," and added, "So far, two people have been reported dead, and dozens have been injured, including children."

President Zelensky emphasized that most major regions of Ukraine, including Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa, were targeted by Russian drone attacks.

According to AFP Yonhap News, a woman in her 20s was killed in Kharkiv as a result of the attack, while three women and one child were injured in a residential area in Sumy. In addition, logistics infrastructure in the Odesa region was targeted. Russia has recently been focusing its attacks on ships and port facilities at the key logistics hub of the Port of Odesa.

The Ukrainian delegation arrived in the United States the previous day and is currently discussing the details of a peace plan with the U.S. side, including security guarantees and economic reconstruction measures. The Ukrainian side is represented by Presidential Chief of Staff Kyrylo Budanov and National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, while the U.S. side includes Steve Witkoff, special envoy of former President Donald Trump, and Trump's eldest son-in-law Jared Kushner.
