Hong Ikpyo, the newly appointed Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs, stated, "I will do my utmost to ensure that diverse thoughts and perspectives can harmoniously create synergy under the name of the Republic of Korea, moving beyond conflict, confrontation, and division."
On January 18, through a Facebook post, he said, "My foremost duty entrusted to me is to realize President Lee Jaemyung's philosophy of tolerance and integration, which aims to unite the hearts of the people on the path to changing lives and pioneering the destiny of the Republic of Korea."
He further emphasized, "As a bridge connecting the President and the people, as well as the Presidential Office and the political sphere, I will keep my ears wide open and work diligently to deliver various opinions without omission and do my best to create unified strength."
He added, "I will not forget the unwavering support I have received from the residents of Seocho-gu and Seongdong-gu, as well as from many citizens," and pledged, "I will keep in mind that the way to repay that trust is through the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration, and I will continue to work tirelessly toward that goal."
On this day, the Presidential Office announced that Hong had been selected as the successor to Woo Sangho as Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs. Hong's term will begin on January 20.
