The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on January 18 that it will recruit 121 youth interns for the first term of 2026, aiming to provide young people with practical experience in agricultural administration and to expand their participation in policymaking.
Eligible applicants are young people aged 19 to 34, as defined by the Framework Act on Youth. In accordance with the principle of open recruitment, quantitative preferential requirements such as language test scores will be excluded, and applicants will be evaluated based on their interest in policy and willingness to participate. Notably, starting this year, a newly introduced "policy proposal" must be submitted and will be comprehensively reviewed as part of the selection process.
The recruitment notice can be found on the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs website and on Nara Job Portal. The recruitment process begins with application submission (January 26-30), followed by document screening and interviews, after which the final candidates will be selected.
The selected youth interns for the first term of 2026 will work in two areas: agricultural administration and public relations. Their responsibilities will include supporting agricultural and rural policies, as well as administrative and promotional work. The positions are distributed as follows: 22 at the ministry headquarters and 99 at affiliated organizations such as the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency and the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service.
The internship period will run for six months, from March 3 to September 2, 2026. During this period, the ministry plans to offer a variety of educational and support activities, including policy site visits and experiential programs, to enhance participants' understanding of policies in the agri-food sector and provide them with experience in national affairs.
Kim Jonggu, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, stated, "The youth internship program is more than just a work experience; it is a valuable opportunity for young people to gain firsthand experience in agricultural administration, deepen their understanding of policy formation and implementation, and build practical skills in specialized fields. We will continue to expand the operation and support of the youth internship program so that more young people can demonstrate their abilities in the field of policymaking."
